Good afternoon everybody!
We have a few news items to go over.
First off, the Packers newest signing + the news that the 2025 NFL Draft will take place in Green Bay Wisconsin! Pretty exciting.
Packers Sign Undrafted Free Agent RB Emanuel Wilson
The Packers decided to add their 6th running back to the roster in Emanuel Wilson. He’s a 2023 undrafted free agent who was originally signed by the Denver Broncos before being released.
In 2022 he played for Division II Fort Valley State where he ran for 1,317 rushing yards (6.6yds/carry) and 17 touchdowns. He also got it done in the receiving game where he had 24 receptions for 239 yards and 2 touchdowns.
He’s 5’10.5, 226 pounds and ran a 4.55 40 at his pro day.
Here’s a look at the running backs currently on the Packers roster.
Aaron Jones
AJ Dillon
Lew Nichols- 2023 7th round pick
Patrick Taylor- 2020 UDFA
Tyler Goodson- 2022 UDFA
It will be interesting to see if the Packers decide to roster a 3rd RB this year. Last year their initial 53 man roster only had 2 RB’s in Jones and Dillon. However Patrick Taylor even though not on the initial final 53 man roster spent a majority of the season on the roster. From weeks 2-18 he played 121 special teams snaps.
In 2021 the Packers rostered 3 RB’s and in 2020 4 RB’s. It fluctuates a lot from year to year. There is 0 doubt that Jones and Dillon are the top backs in Green Bay. If there is a 3rd RB on the roster, special teams impact will be important.
I’m a big Tyler Goodson fan because of his speed and shiftiness, but it could be that he just doesn’t have the pass blocking and special teams ability to make the roster. 7th round rookie Lew Nichols could have a shot at beating out Patrick Taylor.
It’ll be tough for Emanuel Wilson to inch his way onto the Packers final roster. We’ll watch in OTA’s and training camp to see if he gets any buzz.
The Packers also released kicker Parker White which means that 6th rounder Anders Carlson is the only kicker on the roster. It seems pretty clear that the Packers have high confidence in what Anders can become. He only made 71% of his kicks in college but tore his ACL in 2021 and had to wear a brace in 2022. Brian Gutekunst and Rich Bisaccia have sounded very confident that he will be able to develop into a successful NFL kicker.
Packers To Host 2025 NFL Draft
Packers President Mark Murphy has been hoping this day would come for a long time.
It’s pretty crazy that the draft will be coming to Green Bay Wisconsin. In an interview breaking down the announcement Murphy said that some of the selling points for having the draft in Green Bay was the history of the organization and Lambeau Field, and the new titletown area near the stadium. I imagine lots of non Packers fans will love to come to Green Bay to see what it’s all about. It’s a long way away but I may need to try to make it up there for the draft.
That’s A LOT of money.
Murphy also mentioned a typical game brings in $15 million or so to Green Bay. So the draft will be monetarily equivalent to 6.2 games at Lambeau Field. It’s going to bring lots of money to the community and lots of eyes to Wisconsin.

Correction! I talked about Tyler Ervin earlier today and meant to say Tyler Goodson who is on the Packers roster. NOT Tyler Ervin.
