Goodmorning my fellow Packer’s fans.
With it being the pre season in Green Bay all eyes have shifted to Jordan Love, the man that may one day replace one of the greatest athletes the world has ever seen in Aaron Rodgers.
As Packers fans we’ve come to expect greatness from our quarterback. That’s what happens when you have decades of top tier play from both Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers. I was born the year the Packers won the super bowl in 1997 so I’ve never known the Packers without Brett or Aaron in the picture.
Everyone and their mother has an opinion on what Jordan Love is going to be in the future. Many are already calling him a bust. As I’ve said, it’s way too early to tell. The guys played 6 or 7 games and he’s still only 23 years old. And he’s taken HUGE steps forward from year 2 to year 3. Don’t count him out just yet.
I can’t imagine what it’s like for Jordan. The pressure he is facing each and every time he steps on the field has to be immense. How could it not be?
He has one final test before the reigns are handed back to Aaron Rodgers.
Yesterday in Matt Lafleur’s press conference reporters asked if the Packers would play the starters in the final preseason game vs the Chiefs this Thursday. Matt Lafluer stated that they will not be playing.
You can’t fault him for not wanting to risk injury in a meaningless game. If one of the starters injured themselves everyone would be upset that they were playing in the first place.
You do run the risk of the starters being a little rusty. We saw what happened last year in Week 1 when the Packers got clobbered by the New Orleans Saints. But who knows. Maybe they would have lost that game even if the starters had played in the pre season.
This means that Jordan Love will have the opportunity to start one final time. If all things go according to plan we will not be seeing him till at the least next pre season. However he plays tomorrow night vs the Chiefs will probably be what people hold onto going forward.
Regardless of how he plays tomorrow I am much more confident in a future with Jordan Love than I was after last year. There is no question that his command of the offense has reached another level. He knows what he’s doing. His footwork is more precise. His timing is on point.
Yes… it is only the pre season, but there is hope!
I’m rooting for Jordan. I hope he proves all of the doubters wrong. Nothing would be sweeter.
Sincerely,
A Jordan Love Supporter
I agree i hope he plays well Thursday. I saw several things with his game last week that gave me confidence that we will be fine when Aaron retires.Tom Clemmons is a great quarterbacks coach.
I'm rooting for Love. If he puts it all together he can be a top 10 QB.
